VACATION RESORTS

LOCATED ON THE BEACH, IT IS THE SECOND LARGEST SWIMMING POOL IN THE WORLD.

If you have the desire to get away this winter, or summer, and are thinking about somewhere exotic, check out my, VACATION RESORTS.

Let me rephrase that. They are not my resorts but I do have a room in two. One on the Caribbean Sea and the other on the Pacific Ocean.

I can rent you one, or two weeks, nearly any time of the year.

One word of caution, winter season books early, I mean real early, so, unfortunately you need to book early.

Let me tell you what I have.

On the East coast, between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, on the beach, on what is known as the Mayan Riviera, I have a hotel unit with two queen size beds. You have your choice of: ground; second; or third floor. This means you have a choice of; balcony, or patio.

And here’s a little twist, you don’t have to sleep in your room. You can sleep beside the pool. The Mayan Palace resorts are famous for their large pools. (The resort in Acapulco has the largest pool in the world.)

The pool at the Grand Mayan, isn’t quite that large but it does have beds around the pool so you can sleep out doors.

For those of you who don’t like swimming in a pool, the resort is situated on the beach of a barrier reef, the second largest in the world.

The resort is approximately half way between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, but you don’t need a car. There are shuttles that will take you to either town or just to the highway where you can catch a bus. Busses run, approximately, every fifteen minutes and only cost, about, 20 pesos.

For those of you who want to go snorkeling or scuba diving there are endless possibilities. Including underground in fresh water cenotes.

For touring, you are, approximately, equal distance between the ferries to Cozumel or Isla Mujeres.

Both are must see places if you have never been before and don’t want to just sit in the sun and relax.

Even if you are the relaxing type, a must see is the day tour to Xcaret.

To see more about any of the places I mention, just click on the highlighted words.

There is also evening entertainment in the resort itself, in the open air restaurant.
Oh, did I mention the 18 hole golf course, on the grounds, designed by Jack Nicklaus?

END

Not quite the end.

I still want to tell you about Mazatlan.

On the West Coast, of Mexico, where you can see: seals; sea lions; dolphins; and several species of whales that migrate to that area of the Pacific ocean.

Two bedroom suites with: full-service amenities; beachfront; 3 swimming pools, including one that is heated; gym; aerobics classes; convenience mini-market; boutique; restaurant; seafood bar; pool bar; and only 10 minutes from the main nightlife and restaurant section of Mazatlan.

Mazatlan is only a short bus ride from Puerto Vallarta, or a ferry ride to the Baja Peninsula.

Sorry I have no pictures but check out their site in my Related Web Sites section.

If you would like to rent my hotel room at the Grand Mayan, $1,095/wk, or my 2 bedroom suite in the Sea Garden, $850/wk, drop me a line, telling me which dates you wish to enjoy paradise and I will get back to you with availability.

Each week I will add to this column.

    SHARING THE STREETS

    Week One - Introduction

    by

    LEE A. WOOD

Each of us can help reduce `Road Rage' by simply being courteous to our fellow users of the streets.

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We are not alone on this overcrowded planet and as the population grows the space that is around us shrinks.

Road rage is becoming more prevalent as we increase the number of vehicles on our roadways and street rage is also becoming more common, as the number of people on the sidewalks increases.

Everyone wants to have their space and we all feel violated when someone enters our space uninvited. What we have to realize is that the space is not ours. All spaces belong to everyone and though we may momentarily fill a space, as we move about, we are only using it temporarily, as was the person before us, as is the next person to come along. If one or more persons should occupy the same space at the same time we must all realize that this is inevitable and should not become upset by it.

As well as spending a lot of time and miles as a pedestrian, I have driven professionally for over thirty years. I have driven police cars, taxis, busses, and trucks. I have driven tractor trailers from coast to coast accumulating over one million accident free miles.

Next week I will share with you my optimistic, and futuristic, view of how technology will cure road rage and automotive air pollution.

    FERO (a novel)

    FERO: aka: Jamie; Tarka; Trevor.

    by

    LEE A. WOOD

    In a Nutshell.

An imaginary lad, Trevor is born in Ireland. Jamie is shanghaied into the Royal Navy, and shipwrecked on the shores of Africa.

Tarka and his young family are captured and sent to America. As a slave on a large plantation he plans his escape, and revenge.

Trevor's return to Africa is interrupted by the `New York Riots.' (My novel follows an historic timeline.)

Helping some runaway slaves escape to Canada he is sought by bounty hunters.

Trevor tries to start a new life in Canada but his young family is torn apart by the Fenians.

After joining the `Wolseley Expedition' he serves as a guard at the Ft. Garry Penitentiary before becoming a member of the North West Mounted Police and taking part in the `Two Thousand Mile Trek'.

Fero, after serving as a U. S. Marshall, is finally reunited with his second wife and returns to Africa.

    Or does he?

To read the entire novel, go to my website at http://www.bearspage.info/h/no/in.html or click here.

If you don’t enjoy reading on line, feel free to download it.

It is also available, for down load, on my INTRO page, in; LIT (For CE Palms), PDF (For printing or reading.), or PDB (For PDA Palms).

This novel took me several years to right.

If you read it, please, drop me a line and let me know your thoughts.

    WENZHOU, ZHEJIANG, P. R. CHINA

    WANG HAN CASUAL DRESSING PLAZA.

In Dec. of `04 we took our nephew, and his new bride, on a honeymoon, as a wedding present, to YanDang Mountain Park. Wenzhou is the closest, major, centre.

Although it was not tourist season, early December, it was difficult to get seats on the train.

A seat to Wenzhou from Shanghai cost Y94.

Later in the evening we arranged, for an extra Y375, for seven of us, for beds that would come vacant in the middle of the night. Each bed is narrow and there are three, from floor to ceiling, on each side of the little rooms. The price for the beds vary, depending on whether you are on the top, bottom, or in the middle.

We were only in Wenzhou, twice, for a total of 6 hours.

Wenzhou is a city, about 250 KM, South of Hang Zhou.

It has a population equal to Vancouver, B. C. Canada, About 1.5 Million.

It services a surrounding population of another 5 Million.

This story is a bit longer and has many pictures.
